The Australian men's hockey team have defeated Pakistan 3-0 to claim their second straight win over the visitors.

Goals to Tom Wickham, Trent Mitton and Aaron Kleinschmidt sealed the win for the Kookaburras in Darwin.

The Kookaburras were in with an early lead thanks to a scramble in the Australian circle resulting in a goal to Wickham on 15 minutes.

Pakistan then had an opportunity on a penalty corner early into the second quarter, before Australia's Flynn Ogilvie and Kiran Arunasalam made a late break for goal which narrowly missed the post.

With only a minute to go before halftime the Kookaburras went for it; a penalty corner narrowly missing the mark, before Mitton hit a powerful strike past Pakistan goalkeeper Amjad Ali to double the lead.

Three minutes into the second half Kleinschmidt scored the sealing goal with a reverse flick.

The win left Kookaburras coach Colin Batch impressed with his team's ability to finish off against a Pakistan side who stacked their defence.

"It was a tournament match tonight, with very tight conditions. We had to make play from a team that was camped in the back 35 so it really good practice for us going forward," Batch said.

"To come away with a 3-0 win when it wasn't our best game and we made a lot of mistakes was fantastic."
