Khabib reportedly rejects McGregor rematch

Undefeated UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov has reportedly turned down an offer in the vicinity of $15 million for a rematch with Conor McGregor.

According to the lightweight champion’s uncle another bout with the lippy Irishman is off the cards, instead the Russian is in line to fight Tony Ferguson, then is more than likely to retire.

“He will not fight him for any money. Yes, I know that they are offering him a rematch. From the start, they offered him $15m, if he agrees,” Alex Nurmagomedov told Russian publication Sport Express.

“But Khabib said no. Let Conor stand in line, let him fight with others.

“Khabib wants to fight Ferguson, and then finish his career.”

Ever since the Dagestani fighter easily accounted for the Irishman, most within the UFC had suggested that McGregor may need to find another fight before even entering into discussions with ‘The Eagle’.

“Other than that, Khabib just sort of dominated him. I mean, he dropped him in the second, beat the f****ing s*** out of him in the fourth.”

Ferguson scored a bloody victory over Anthony Pettis on the UFC 229 card and would provide Nurmagomedov stiffer competition.

However, Khabib’s trainer Ali Abdelaziz sent mixed messages in a recent interview where he rejected a rematch with McGregor but then said the price of the next fight would dictate who it would be.

This all comes after reports that Nurmagomedov is chasing a big money fight with undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather.

“50-0 v 27-0, two guys who never lose, why not? Because in the jungle there is only one king,” Nurmagomedov said speaking via Leonard Ellerbe’s, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Instagram account.

“Let’s go, Floyd, we have to fight now.

“Of course I am the king because he could not drop McGregor and I dropped him easily.”

Mayweather responded by challenging Vegas to “get the check book out”.
