Kayaker conquers the snow slopes

When it comes to taking on nature's fury no waterfall or rapid run is beyond the world's best kayakers.

But Spanish waterman Mikel Sarasola has shown he's just as accomplished in the snow after hitting the slopes in the French Pyrenees with spectacular results.

Strapped into his trusty kayak, Sarasola took on one of the steepest mountain routes in the region, gliding through the powder with ease.

At one point the 28-year-old used the chairlift struts as slalom poles, weaving his way down the slope.

Filmed with a GoPro mounted on the back of his kayak, the camera delivered mesmerising footage.

And while he handled the run likes a seasoned skier or snowboarder we can only imagine the ride should he have been chased by an avalanche.
