Is this sport's greatest intercept?

An American footballer has shown brilliant timing and initiative to snare one of the cheekiest intercepts in any sport, ever.

The incredible catch occurred as the opposition quarterback tried to spike the football in an attempt to wind the clock down late in the game between Wisconsin high schools.

Footage from the match shows Crivitz’s quarterback take the snap before hurling the football to the ground.

Incredibly, Gillett defensive tackle Brian Zahn dives through the line of scrimmage and catches the attempted spike, resulting in a turnover.

“I couldn’t believe it landed in my hands,” Zahn said.

“I just got lucky. I can’t believe the referee noticed too.”

Good luck or not, Zahn should definitely take a bow for the play.
