Iffland claims high diving World Cup gold
Australia's reigning world champion Rhiannan Iffland has won gold at the FINA high diving World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
The 27-year-old from NSW produced four strong dives from the 20-metre platform to notch 322.95 points and triumph in the women's event from Canada's Lysanne Richard (285.75), who won in 2016, and American Eleanor Smart (277.70).
Iffland first made her name internationally by winning the 2016 Ciff Diving World Series as a wildcard entry, the first rookie to do so.
She went on to win the FINA high diving world championship last year in Budapest and will defend that title in Ggwanju, South Korea, in 2019.
The World Cup in Abu Dhabi was a qualification event for next year's world championships, with the first 12 men and first eight women being automatically selected.
