Winx stages incredible comeback to take out Turnbull Stakes with 28th straight win

Winx has stunned racing fans once again by staging an incredible comeback on the final straight to take out a remarkable 28th consecutive win at the Turnbull Stakes.

The champion's streak looked to be in dire straits with just 400m to go before she stormed home to win by a full body length ahead of Youngstar.

Winx was second from the back throughout the 2000m race, but charged home in customary fashion as the focus turns to the Cox Plate later in the month.

Winx's jockey Hugh Bowman admitted that he had his doubts during the race.

"Isn't she amazing?" Bowman told Seven after the win.

"I mean, usually I ride her so arrogantly, and just let her move into the race when it pleases me. But I didn't have that option today."
