Trots driver survives horrific crash

A New Zealand harness racing driver has told of his fear of being trampled by rival horses after a spectacular crash.

John Dunn was one of three drivers caught in chaotic scenes at the Westport Trotting Club meeting on Friday and ended up being catapulted into the air when his cart dug into the track.He landed on his back and despite initial fears he was, remarkably, able to stand up and walk away."Once I've just left the seat, it's slingshotted, that's what's got me the air, that's why I've gone so high," he told stuff.co.nz."You always worry about the horses, the ones that were in the fall, getting up and running over the top of you," he said.All three horses involved in the accident were cleared of serious injuries.
