Once racegoer truly got into the spirit of the Melbourne Cup today, donning what will likely go down among the most creative and elaborate headpieces in Flemington history.

The New Caledonian woman wore a wide-brimmed hat adorned with a hand-crafted race course, complete with artificial grass, horses and jockeys.

To top off the creative ensemble, the woman’s hair was styled in a braid, with horse and jockey figurines attached.

She paired the extravagant headpiece with a simple grey and black dress.
