Terravista to be entered for Galaxy

Terravista will be entered in the Group One Galaxy alongside his brother Ball Of Muscle but another family member has more than likely run his last race.

Tiger Tees, winner of the 2014 Galaxy (1100m), pulled up lame after Saturday's Gold Coast Stakes.

Joe Pride trains all three and has had a testing week with Terravista missing the Newmarket Handicap with a slight hoof problem.

"Terravista will be nominated for the Galaxy on Saturday along with Ball Of Muscle," Pride said.

"But I think Tiger is finished."

Terravista was nabbed on the line in the Lightning Stakes by Chautauqua, the beaten favourite in Saturday's Newmarket.

Damien Oliver fumbled with his whip in the final stages of the Lightning which Chautauqua won by a nose.

"It's a Group One race that got away," Pride said.

"Terravista is doing OK so we may go to the Galaxy or give him a trial ahead of the TJ Smith Stakes.

"It's such a shame because I think he could have won the Newmarket."

Outsider The Quarterback stepped up in the Group One straight sprint to give popular trainer Robbie Griffiths his first win at the highest level.

Both five-year-old Ball Of Muscle and eight-year-old Tiger Tees are by Dubawi while six-year-old Terravista is a son of Captain Rio.

All three are out of Parfore who has also produced dual Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy.

Tiger Tees had been among the acceptors for the Newmarket but with his career on the line, Pride elected to send him to the Gold Coast where he hoped for a more forgiving track.

The Chris Waller-trained Counterattack, a late scratching from the Newmarket, will be nominated for the Galaxy but could stay in Melbourne for the William Reid Stakes the following week.

Waller said the colt would work at Moonee Valley on Monday morning to get some experience of the track in case he and the owners decided to run there in the William Reid on March 24.
