Sandown options for Coronation Shallan

The Sandown Stakes is the most likely option for Coronation Shallan if the mare backs up on Zipping Classic day.

Coronation Shallan won a Group Three against her own sex at Moonee Valley two starts ago and earned a shot at Group One company in last Saturday's Emirates Stakes.

The six-year-old finished seventh in the $1 million Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington and is nominated for both the Sandown Stakes and Summoned Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

Both Group Three races are over 1500m with the Summoned Stakes restricted to mares while the Sandown Stakes is a quality handicap.

"At this stage we're contemplating (running at Sandown), she seems to have pulled up well," trainer Brett Scott said.

"I'm probably leaning towards the Sandown Stakes against the boys because under the set weights and penalties in the Summoned Stakes she doesn't get in that well with the fifty-eight kilos.

"In the Sandown Stakes she gets in on the minimum with fifty-four."

Coronation Shallan settled just behind the leader, and eventual winner Turn Me Loose, in the Emirates Stakes and Scott felt the mare was tenacious in the straight to be beaten less than four lengths.

"I thought it was probably as good as she could go," Scott said.
