SA pair have disqualifications shortened

Two Adelaide-based trainers have had their disqualifications reduced on appeal by the South Australian Racing Appeals Tribunal.

Training partners Niki O'Shea and Ashton Downing were each disqualified following a stewards' inquiry on May 2.

They were banned on conduct charges including the attempted raceday administration to two horses en route to the Strathalbyn race meeting.

The pair were banned under an Australian rule of racing that deals with conduct intended to corrupt the outcome of a race.

O'Shea was disqualified for five years and had the penalty reduced to three years on the proviso he agreed to a good behaviour bond for a period of five years.

Downing had her two-year disqualification reduced to one year.
