Roses starts Oaks campaign at Flemington

After a successful spring campaign, Bring Me Roses is ready to begin her autumn preparation which trainer Tony McEvoy hopes will culminate in a major Oaks win.

Bring Me Roses was runner-up to Pinot in the VRC Oaks at Flemington in November and McEvoy has mapped out a program towards the Group One ATC Australian Oaks at Randwick in April.

Her campaign commences at Flemington on Saturday when she runs in the Group Three The Vanity (1400m) in which her opponents include Australian Guineas favourite Aloisia.

Bring Me Roses has raced on six occasions and McEvoy has always held a healthy opinion of the filly.

After beginning her career in Adelaide, Bring Me Roses was placed over 1400m on the Morphettville Parks circuit before running second in the Morphettville Guineas in September.

Following that placing McEvoy sent her to Melbourne where she broke through for her maiden success in the Group Two Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield.

She was then unplaced as favourite in the Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington before coming out five days later, turning her form around with her placing in the Oaks.

McEvoy has carefully planned the preparation of Bring Me Roses and is delighted with her progress.

"She's come back super," he said.

"She's furnished, she's strengthened and she's working with a lot of zest.

"I'm expecting a really bold performance first-up from her on Saturday but with loads of improvement to come."

Bring Me Roses sits on the third line of betting for Saturday's race at $8 with Aloisia an easing $2.70 favourite ahead of Paris Rock at $4.60.

McEvoy plans to run Bring Me Roses in the Australian Guineas at Flemington on March 3 before switching attention to Sydney for the Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill on March 31 and the Australian Oaks at Randwick on April 14.
