The Randwick course proper will be rested for a month while it undergoes maintenance work to prepare it for the summer carnival races.

The track hosted five meetings on successive weeks including the Melbourne Cup day program on Tuesday.

The Australian Turf Club's Randwick course manager Nevesh Ramdhani has been happy with the performance of the course proper this spring and sees no reason Randwick won't cope with similar traffic in the future.

"There is no reason we can't make the four successive Saturdays a permanent part of the spring program," Ramdhani said.

"When we have the right growing conditions in the early spring the Royal Randwick course proper provides a great surface."

The next four Sydney Saturday race meetings will be shared between Canterbury and Rosehill while minor maintenance work is performed on the Randwick course proper, including aerating the track.

It will host its next meeting on December 5 with the Villiers Stakes program a week later.
