Race fan makes a donkey of himself

A drunken fan has made a complete donkey of himself after running onto a race track and sprinting with the horses on the home stretch.

In an act of sheer madness the unidentified man charged onto the track as the field sprinted towards the finishing post during Cream Gorse Handicap in Leicester, UK, and was lucky to escape serious injury or death.

As this video shows, the man jumps under the rail and charges onto the track ahead of the nine-horse field before continuing to sprint as the horses pass - all the while moving his hand in a mock gesture of whipping.

The commentators were aghast, while fans inundated social media labeling the man a "complete fool''.

The incident comes seven years after notorious Australian serial pest Peter Hore invaded the track at Flemington during the 1997 Melbourne Cup.
