Group-winning filly Petits Filous will miss the spring carnival after undergoing knee surgery.

Trainer Ciaron Maher said bone chips in a knee were discovered after the filly finished 13th in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide last month.

"She'll be out for the spring and she'll probably make a return around the autumn next year," Maher told radio station RSN.

"She had a couple of knee chips so she had the surgery. The surgery went well and she's back spelling now in the paddock down at Warrnambool."

Petits Filous won her first four starts last year including the Group Three Quezette Stakes and Listed Cat D'Antibes Stakes before finishing unplaced in the Group One Moir Stakes.

She resumed during this year's autumn carnival with a win at Caulfield before finishing last in the Arrowfield Sprint in Sydney and unplaced in the Robert Sangster Stakes.
