Paul Murray trains trifecta at Nowra

On the day honouring the late Bede Murray at Nowra, his son Paul has trained the trifecta in the Mollymook Cup, a race his father won eight times.

Bede Murray died earlier this year and was remembered at the NSW South Coast track on Sunday.

The Bede Murray Memorial Day also featured a race named for the late trainer which was won by the Matthew Smith-trained How Sweet It Is.

Emotions were high when Chief In Command, who Bede Murray trained to win the 2015 Mollymook Cup, went back to back, leading all the way under Robbie Brewer.

Chief In Command beat Coolotta and Virgo Lass to give Paul Murray the one-two-three.

"It's sensational," Murray told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

"I think Dad was fighting hard. To get the trifecta as well, sensational."

Murray and his brother Graeme worked closely with their father, a multiple Group One winning trainer who prepared Universal Prince and Victory Vein among many notable horses.
