The first surviving foal of equine superstar Winx has retired without ever racing.

Quinceanera, who was purchased for $10 million by owner Debbie Kepitis, will head to the broodmare barn after a decision from vets and trainer Chris Waller.

Woppitt Bloodstock posted a statement via social media confirming that the three-year-old would not proceed to the races.

"Although disappointing, it's in her best interest to now begin her career as a broodmare," the statement via X said.

The daughter of champion stallion Pierro was the second foal of Winx, but the first to survive after her first - a filly by I Am Invincible - did not survive.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Quinceanera was part of a fierce bidding war between an American billionaire John Stewart and Winx part-owner Kepitis, with the latter eventually winning out at a record eight-figure price.

Affectionately known as "The Mighty Mare", she went on to win an astonishing 25 Group 1 races and 33 races in a row before her retirement in 2019.

Quinceanera had been in and out of Waller's Rosehill stable after setbacks, including a temperature and minor bout of colic early in 2025, according to the Herald.

Kepitis was one of three owners who paid a total of $230,000 for Winx - arguably the greatest racehorse in history, making more than $26.4 million at the track.
