Leading apprentice Samantha Clenton will keep a prized Scone Cup carnival ride despite her second suspension in as many city meetings at Canterbury.

Clenton pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge after Wahng Wah finished second in the Schweppes Handicap on Wednesday.

Stewards said Clenton took "a doubtful run" between horses that caused Tye Angland's mount Fulfilled Promise to be tightened at the 100m.

Clenton was suspended from May 1 until May 7 out of Saturday's Rosehill meeting and she will serve another four-meeting ban for Wednesday's breach.

But she will be free to return to riding on May 13, the first day of the Scone Cup carnival.

Clenton has been booked to ride exciting country sprinter Clearly Innocent in the Luskin Star Stakes on May 14.

She has ridden Clearly Innocent five times for four wins but Tommy Berry was in the saddle when the four-year-old overcame a hoof issue to capture the Country Championship Final at Randwick.

Fellow apprentice Lester Grace was also suspended out of the same race on Wednesday for his winning ride on the Chris Waller-trained Tsaritsa.
