Bruce Hill looking for improved Teronado

Gold Coast trainer Bruce Hill is expecting an improved showing from Group One placegetter Teronado on a more forgiving surface at Eagle Farm.

Teronado will be out to break a two-year absence from the winners' circle in Saturday's 1800m-open handicap.

The gelding is regarded as one of the most talented in Queensland but has not won since September 2014 because of injury problems.

Teronado was placed in the 2014 Rosehill Guineas but was badly injured in that year's George Main Stakes and was only saved by swift surgery at the Randwick Equine Centre.

Hill has been patient with Teronado and the gelding showed a glimpse of his old form when second in the Listed Giles Quality (1800m) at Eagle Farm on June 25.

Teronado was then well beaten into last place in the Grafton Cup (2350m) on July 14.

Hill said it would be wise to ignore Teronado's Grafton run and concentrate on his previous effort at Eagle Farm.

"The track was just far too hard for him at Grafton. You can forget that run and if he can measure up to his previous effort he will be in the finish," Hill said.

"They are predicting some rain late in the week so I will see how that pans out. But Saturday's race does look ideal for him at the 1800 metres."
