Horn silenced with Pacquaio, Khan to fight

Australian boxer Jeff Horn's shot at fighting Manny Pacquiao is over after confirmation of a "super fight" between the Filipino and Amir Khan on Twitter.

Welterweight Horn's fight with Pacquaio was slated for April with Brisbane a likely host, but that talk has now been extinguished.

After 'Pacman' and Brit Khan revealed earlier this week that negotiations were ongoing over a potential bout, a date has now been agreed, though no venue has been announced.

"Negotiations between team Pacquiao and team Khan have come to terms for the April 23 bout as this is what the fans wanted," 38-year-old Pacquiao tweeted.

Khan, 30, was quick to follow on social media with his own announcement.

"My team and I have agreed terms with Manny Pacquiao and his team for a super fight #pacquiaokhan #April23rd," he tweeted.

The Horn-Pacquiao fight would have been one of the biggest in Australian boxing history, with the Queensland government backing the push for Suncorp Stadium to host.
