Horn ready to dig even deeper in Vegas

Jeff Horn's 15 minutes of fame are supposed to end now.

Nobody in the US gives Horn a chance of retaining his WBO welterweight championship on Sunday (AEST) against unbeaten pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford.

Horn and his trainer Glenn Rushton made their critics look silly last year, conquering Manny Pacquiao when everyone thought the Filipino legend would do it easy.

Crawford is a different kettle of fish. At 30 years old, he's at the prime of his career, and one of the slickest, quickest, most skilful fighters in the world today.

But as Rushton likes to say, if it bleeds, it can be killed.

And if Horn follows the 12-point plan he has set out for him, Rushton believes it will happen.

"He is a very crafty, multi-skilled individual. He's a good counter-puncher, good attacker," he said.

"There are no major weaknesses but you never do everything well.

"A cricket player might have their pull shot as a weakness but it doesn't mean they play it badly. It's just compared to to everything else it's his weakest link.

"The same with Crawford. If we can direct Jeff's strength to his weakest link, that will help us to a victory."

Horn needed three attempts to make weight for the fight but will head into the ring in peak physical and mental condition, declaring the late dramas would not shake his confidence.

Rushton said Horn was an immovable object and Crawford, an unstoppable force.

"This is a case of hope against hate. It's going to be a battle of wills and spirits," he said.

"Jeff brings hope; he brings hope to bullied kids, he brings hope because he just looks like the guy next door. He is a beacon for that.

"When we get this battle of wills, good will win over evil. It's going to be an awesome spectacle.

"Anyone around the world not watching this fight will miss a great moment in sporting history."
