Horn blocking out talk of Crawford clash

He won't be there in person but Terence Crawford is the name that will be on everyone's lips should Jeff Horn retain his WBO welterweight title on Wednesday night.

A victory for Horn against England's Gary Corcoran at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre will lock in a multi-million dollar meeting with unbeaten American Crawford in Las Vegas next year.

Crawford, considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, recently held all four major light welterweight belts but has moved up a division to the 66.68kg limit.

The Omaha, Nebraska native was supposed to be ringside at Wednesday's bout in Brisbane but was unable to obtain an Australian visa.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has already booked the T Mobile Arena for a Horn-Crawford clash in late April.

"I've tried not to think about my next fight until it happens," Horn said.

"I've got until after this fight to start having discussions with guys.

"He's definitely a possibility if I can manage to get through Gary first."

Horn's trainer, Glenn Rushton, has big plans for his 29-year-old charge and is in no doubt he still has the requisite hunger to make them a reality after shooting to instant fame with his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao.

Horn might have beaten a legend but that's only one half of Rushton's blueprint - the other is to become one, and conquering Crawford would go a long, long way towards that end.

"We haven't done what we set out to do," Rushton said.

"I always wanted to get him to the top early so we could spend a lot of time at the top to achieve the things we want to do - which is work through the welterweight division, then move up to the light middles and possibly even middle.

"But we've still got work to do in the welterweight division and Crawford breathing down our neck.

"That's a big fight but we'll worry about that one on Thursday morning."
