Hockeyroos hit by Kershaw injury blow
Star Hockeyroos midfielder Steph Kershaw has been struck by another knee injury blow which looks set to rule her out of action for the rest of the year.
Kershaw, who suffered the injury at a squad training session at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday, later had scans which confirmed she had torn her anterior cruciate ligament on her left knee.
The news comes on the eve of Australia's FIH Pro League campaign, which kicks off against world champions Netherlands in Melbourne on February 2.
The 59-cap playmaker tore her right knee ACL in 2015 which wrecked her chances of making the Hockeyroos' 2016 Rio Olympics team.
Queenslander Kershaw is expected to undergo surgery on her left knee this week and begin rehabilitation with a view to returning in 2020.
