Footage has emerged of the workout that may have landed Jarryd Hayne his dream career in American football.

As speculation swirls that Hayne will announce a deal with the Detroit Lions this week, a promotional video has surfaced of Hayne’s so-called pro day in San Diego on December 5, in which he was tested in front of talent scouts from 16 NFL teams.

It shows Hayne complete a 40 yard (36.58m) dash, a series of agility exercises and some drills with running back coach Clarence Shelmon.

His 40 yard time of 4.5 seconds would have put him sixth for running backs in the NFL combine for college athletes in the draft.

Hayne posted a link on Twitter to the times along with a caption, “my 4.5 on my pro day puts me in the mix.”

At 103kg (226 pounds) and 188cm (6 foot 2 inches), the former Parramatta captain is bigger than the majority of running backs coming out of the college system.

The former NRL star was reportedly set to hold a media conference in Sydney this to confirm his signing of a futures deal with the Lions.

His seemingly imminent signing is also making waves in the US, with the NFL’s website featuring a story about the Aussie athlete prominently on its homepage.
