Gridiron player’s amazing punt return

Defence is generally a minor factor when it comes to American high school football.

But regardless of the tackling prowess of teenagers, Omaha North High School senior Markell Vaughan is entitled to hang his helmet on one of the best ever punt return touchdown's seen in gridiron.

Playing in a school match, Vaugh zoomed onto the radar of NFL talent scouts after scoring a stunning six-pointer, following an almost 100m run.

Taking a punt return deep in his own half, the Vikings player shows all the skills Jarryd Hayne will need to call on in his bid to break into the NFL, with a stepping, weaving run that left a trail of defenders in his wake.

Vaugh broke at least eight tackles as he first burst down the right sideline and then cut across field, before darting behind his teammates to avoid the cover defence and touchdown.

Of course, some of the defence leaves much to be desired, but either way the teenager shows a ton of tenacity and evasive skills to reach the end zone.
