Australian Whitney Hillier has narrowly missed the podium after leading at the halfway point of the Women's Indian Open, which was won by Austrian Christine Wolf.

Hillier finished six-under after mixing three bogeys with three birdies to only make par in the fourth and final round at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon on Sunday.

Wolf won by three shots ahead of Norwegian Marianna Skarpnord and England's Meghan MacLaren finishing third.

Hillier missed the podium by a single shot.

The Austrian winner made up for losing the title in last year's final round, carding a 69 to finish on 11-under par.

MacLaren started the day within a shot of the lead, but three birdies and three bogies in a 72 left her on seven-under, one behind Skarpnord.

Hillier had led at the halfway point, but a one-under 71 in her penultimate round and par in her final round led her to be overtaken by her three rivals.
