Pain-free Tiger hints at golf comeback

Is this the biggest hint yet that Tiger Woods is close to a comeback?

The former world No.1 was filmed swinging pain-free as he conducted a golfing clinic at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club in the US.

And fans of the 14-time major champion would have been even more excited to hear he was reportedly crushing the ball in excess of 270 metres down the fairway.

Woods has endured a long hiatus from the game after twice undergoing back surgery late last year.

He hasn’t played competitively since the Wyndham Championship last August where an ugly triple bogey on the 11th hole cruelled a fairytale victory.

The long layoff has seen the 40-year-old plummet down the world rankings to a miserable No. 486 and has seen the game taken over by a young brigade that includes Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Australia's Jason Day.

However, Woods has been showing life in his game in recent weeks with Golf Channel's Tim Rosaforte reporting the American had been "involved in a series of four-to-five hour practice sessions" and "looked great".

Rosaforte's comments follow Woods posting a video of himself hitting a nine-iron in a simulator.

And now with the recent footage emerging from Georgia, golf fans are strongly hoping there could be life in the old tiger, yet.
