Bryson DeChambeau got a little short with golf journalists at a press conference ahead of his appearance at The Open Championship at Royal St George's.

The big-hitting American nicknamed 'The Mad Scientist' for his physics-inspired approach to the game was not pleased with one journalist questioning his etiquette, claiming he had failed to shout "Fore!" after errant shots.

While DeChambeau is renowned for his ability to drive par 4s and set up eagles on par 5s, a few of his tee shots have been wayward at times too.

"Over the last few months we've watched you launch a few drives into a few crowds and you don't seem to shout 'Fore' - I'm just wondering why you don't?" a Scottish reporter asked DeChambeau.

"I do shout 'Fore'," he replied.

"I don't know what you're talking about. There are plenty of people on the tee box that do shout 'fore.'

"You're bringing up a very controversial thing, which is unfortunate. But 99 percent of the time I do [shout], and unfortunately people think I don't.

"But that's OK, they can say whatever they want."

It was one of the few questions the 27-year-old received that didn't involve his rival Brooks Koepka with their ongoing feud continuing to captivate golf fans.

At one point a reporter was even heard mistakenly calling DeChambeau 'Brooks'.

Earlier Koepka confirmed in his British Open press conference there was no doubt about his disdain forBryson DeChambeau.

When asked how Koepka would approach being US teammates in the Ryder Cup in September with DeChambeau, the response was telling.

"You realise it's only a week, right?" Koepka said.

"I mean, look, I can put it aside for business. If we're going to be on the same team, I can deal with anybody in the world for a week.

"I'm not playing with him. I'm pretty sure we're not going to be paired together, put it that way."
