Professional golfer felled by low blow

A professional golfer was his own worst enemy when his attempt to escape trouble backfired and he was left doubled over and grabbing his crotch.

South African Jacques Kruyswijk was playing in a recent Sunshine Tour even in his home nation when he found himself in a spot of trouble after his ball nestled up against a tree.

Deciding power would get him out of the tough spot, the world No.689 tried to blast the ball past the obstacle.

But Kruyswijk's execution let him down and the ball rebounded off the tree and fired straight into his crotch, the instant pain forcing him onto his hands and knees.

Adding insult to injury, rules state a ball touching a golfer after impact incurs a one-stroke penalty, forcing Kruyswijk to card a seven on the hole.
