Golf: Professionals battle 48km/h winds at Pebble Beach

A professional golfer's life isn't just walking along pristine courses in idyllic locations with the sun on your back and a zephyr of breeze keeping you comfortable. 

Sometimes these players have to grit their teeth, hunker down and brave the worst Mother Nature can throw at them. 

Just ask PGA Tour regulars Tony Finau and J.B. Holmes. 

The pair crazily stepped out in ferocious 48km/h winds to get a bit of practice in for the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. 

Wearing every piece of wet weather gear they could find, the duo put their skills to the test when they teed off from one of the postcard holes on the famed course – the incredibly short seventh. 

A majestic 96m par-three with panoramic views, the hole has earned a reputation as a tricky-little beast. 

On this day is was a furious monster. 

Needing a five-iron (Finau) and a six-iron (Holmes), both players were able to inexplicably deny the raging winds and find the green. 

Just to slam home how hard it is to play in those conditions, you can hear someone off camera, most likely Holmes' caddie, tell him the one thing a golfer most fears to hear: "Just start it over the water." 

That water happens to be the Pacific Ocean.
