Ogilvy drops F-bomb on national television

Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy made the cardinal error of live television when microphones picked up the former US Open champion swearing on the fairways of the Australian Masters.

Ogilvy was on the opening hole when he found trouble, pushing his tee shot into the left rough.

But despite finding his ball in decent lie, the 37-year-old again came up short with his second shot, finding the carpet but leaving himself with a monster putt for birdie.

And walking up to the green, the channel Seven coverage cut to the former major winner, hoping to get an insight into the relationship between golfer and caddie.

However, the ensuing conversation would have burnt a few ears of the broadcaster’s national audience, with the slightly annoyed Ogilvy using some colourful language to describe his unhappiness with the shot.

The outburst brought a few chuckles from the commentators with former PGA Championship winner Wayne Grady saying: “That’s the danger. You want to listen to guys live, well, bad luck. Cop it”

Former British Open champion Ian Baker-Finch agreed: “It’s live sport. Exactly right.”
