Mickelson leaves kids a major tip

American golfer Phil Mickelson is not only a major winner - he's also a major tipper.

The US Masters, PGA Championship and British Open winner gave two youngsters a $99 tip when he bought a cup of lemonade from their stall outside Muirfield Village during the Memorial Tournament.

Roland Van Karsen, 6, and his sisters Elise, 8, had set up their stall last Thursday (US time) for the opening round when the five-time major winner stopped by for a refreshment.

Charging just a $1 a cup for the homemade lemonade, the duo were shocked when Mickelson handed over a $100 note, leaving them a mammoth tip.

"All we saw was this white car drive up and it was close and (Mickelson) just opened the door and said 'can we have … a glass of lemonade," Roland recalled to The Columbus Dispatch.

"And all it took was one little thing for him to give us a good tip."

However, how the siblings spend their earnings is a matter open to debate.

"Save it up for a Ken doll," Elise quickly answered before her little brother waved away such a silly notion.

"That's what she's doing," Roland said, sticking his thumb over his shoulder at his sister.

"I think I'm saving up for a Nerf gun."
