Harrington does a 'Happy Gilmore'

Padraig Harrington has had a win ahead of the 96th PGA Championship, earning a new wave of fans after performing a 'Happy Gilmore' tee shot during a practice round.

The former PGA Champion unleashed with the skipping drive on the 10th tee at Valhalla, where tournament organisers had arranged a long drive contest for the world's elite.While Harrington was happy to oblige in a bit of fun, American Bubba Watson refused to take part, saying his focus was on his preparation.

"I want to practice the game of golf. I want to learn this golf course," Watson said.

"I don't see that we should have a competition like that while we're playing a practice round and learning the golf course."

South African Louis Oosthuizen won the long-drive contest with a 310 metre effort, two metres longer than Australian runner-up Jason Day, while Watson used a 3-iron instead of a driver, taking himself out of contention to make his point.
