Golfer loses watch celebrating hole in one

American Patrick Reed gained two shots and lost a watch when he wildly celebrated scoring a hole in one at the Houston Open.

The controversial club swinger was playing the par-3 16th hole when his five iron tee shot skipped onto the green and rolled into the hole for a brilliant ace.

After raising his arm in triumph, an excited Reed sprinted to the green, playfully racing his caddie across a footbridge.

But just as he hit the green he stopped and turned around when he realised something was missing - his watch.

The watch apparently dropped off his wrist somewhere on the wooden bridge, prompting the 24-year-old to retrace his steps and search the reeds below for the missing timepiece.

While we're not sure whether Reed found the watch, at least this moment in the spotlight was worthy of a laugh - unlike his previous bout of publicity in November when he was forced to apologise for using a gay slur to admonish himself for a poor shot.
