Golfer celebrates putt with bellyslide

Golf celebrations are normally confined to a fist pump, but a British player has broken the mould by bellysliding across a sodden green after sinking a putt.

Playing with a group of mates, the man lines up a regulation 40cm putt during a mock championship match.

And while there's nothing special about his shot to sink the ball, his footy-style celebration shows the sort of jubilation many weekend hackers feel as he runs across the green and, channeling Happy Gilmore, slides belly-first across the sodden grass.

It's hardly the sort of celebration that we'd ever see at a major event – given the strict policing of greens.

But it would no doubt be cheered by fans should Rory McIlroy or Tigers Woods ever bust out such a move.
