    Masters 2018: Extent of Tony Finau's gruesome injury revealed

    Following the US Masters Tony Finau has revealed the extent of the awkward ankle injury that in part turned him into the peoples’ champion.

    While celebrating a hole-in-one during the preliminary par-3 contest, Finau managed to dislocate his ankle trotting down the fairway, before slamming it back in to place in front of thousands.

    But it’s a photo of Finau’s ankle that has since been circulated online that shows just how brave a face the crowd-favourite was putting on.

    As a he hobbled gingerly back to his team, many thought the American’s Masters was over before it began.

    A dogged Finau declared himself fit, and put on a stellar performance over the next four days to finish 10th at the prestigious event, and in doing so turned himself into a household name.

    His injuries would not be in vain however as the former world no.34 placed high enough for automatic qualification for the 2019 tournament.
