Big ranking rise for victorious Day

Jason Day's leap up the world golf rankings has been confirmed following his win at the US PGA Tour event in North Carolina.

Day's two-shot victory on Sunday resulted in the Australian shooting up from 14th to No.7 when the latest rankings were released on Monday.

It was another strong surge of form from the former world No.1, who claimed his second title of the season when he held off Aaron Wise and Nick Watney at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte.

Dustin Johnson remained as world No.1.

Of the other Australians, Marc Leishman stayed at No.16, Cameron Smith is 39th and Adam Scott dropped three places to No.71.
