Amateur Green doing well at Masters

Perth amateur Hannah Green is well placed at the Ladies Masters after successive rounds of 71 took her to four-under at Royal Pines.

Green, 19, was the leading amateur at last week's Australian Open and has continued her good form at the Masters.

She fired seven birdies in Friday's round but also conceded four bogeys.

In Thursday's opening round Green scored a spectacular eagle on the par-4, 10th hole (337m) when she holed a nine-iron approach.

Green started confidently on Friday and made a hat-trick of birdies from the third hole to set up her round.

She holed putts of 11m, 3m and 15m for the early birdies.

"I never expected to make those putts. I would have been happy to just two-putt, but it was nice," she said.

"It was good to get on a roll.

"I hit the ball alright but can improve on the weekend to limit the bogeys."

Green gained notoriety last year when she finished second to current world No.1 Lydia Ko in the New Zealand Open.

"I've watched a lot of these girls play on TV and it is cool to know my game can match it with them,'' she said.

"It's kind of exciting for me because I will probably turn professional at the end of the year."
