Striker scores despite blatant foul

FC Barcelona Women’s striker Barbara Latorre has played-on after being brought down in a blatant foul to score one of the goals of the season.

Receiving the ball in her own half, the no.19 darted in from the right flank and proceeded to slalom her way to goal duping the bulk of the Espanyol eleven.

After trouncing past five opponents the speedy striker was brought down in a clear red card challenge, however, commendably, sprung back to her feet to continue bearing down on goal.

Shrugging off one final tackle Latorre clinically side-footed home as the ball kissed the inside of the far post, leaving keeper Miriam De Francisco for dead.

While it may be difficult to compete with the coverage drawn by her male counterparts Messi, Suarez and Neymar, Latorre’s goal not only punctuates the calibre of woman’s football but the decidedly more admirable ‘get on with it’ attitude that eludes the male game.
