A long jump from the Olympics to the NFL

Multi-tasking is becoming an increasingly valuable asset for professional sportspeople.

On the Australian stage in recent years we have had Israel Folau (league, AFL, rugby), Jarryd Hayne (league, NFL, rugby) and Ellyse Perry (cricket and football).

But on the world stage we have a new contender: Marquise Goodwin.

Goodwin scored a stunning touchdown in Thursday night’s NFL clash between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

In a previous life he was a long jumper who made the final of the London Olympics. Goodwin, who was also a top class sprinter, showed his speed when he flashed down the touchline to score for the Bills.

How did he celebrate? With a long jump in the end zone of course.

Sadly for Goodwin and the Bills, the match ended in sadness with the visiting Jets scoring a 37-31 win.
