Portuguese star Pepe slammed for taking dive in Morocco win

Portuguese star Pepe has been slammed by fans online for one of the most egregious dives at the 2018 World Cup, in his side’s win 1-0 over Morocco.

Morocco was applying pressure on Portugal’s defence in their quest for an equaliser in stoppage time, when the Portuguese defender dramatically reacted to a tap on the shoulder from Moroccan captain Mehdi Benatia.

The 35-year-old dropped to the floor like he’d been chopped down by a sniper, with social media users sent into a frenzy by the shifty move.

It was risky play by Pepe considering his side was in the lead and he could’ve been given a yellow card for simulation.

Morocco were knocked out of the World Cup as a result of the 1-0 loss.
