Iraq football team somehow waste four on one chance to score

This footage could serve as Exhibit A as to why Iraq have struggled in the early rounds of the final stage of World Cup qualifying.

Somehow they managed to not score despite being four-on-one with the goalkeeper during their match against Thailand on Tuesday.

Thailand, who were already down 2-0 at this stage, threw far too many men forward and should have paid the penalty as the Iraqi counter-attack left them with four players closing in on goal.

What should have been a tap in ends up with red Iraqi faces as the chance was wasted.

Luckily for Iraq it didn’t end up mattering – they ran out 4-0 winners.

These two teams are in the same group as Australia and not surprisingly are filling the bottom two spots after the opening four matches.

Ange Postecoglou and the Socceroos will be hoping the Thai defence is just as friendly when Australia visit next month.
