Iranian defender Milad Mohammadi gets cute with throw-in

Iranian substitute Milad Mohammadi’s attempted throw-in was one of the highlights in his side’s 1-0 loss to Spain.

Thanks to a chance second half goal from Spanish star Diego Costa, the Iranians were pushing hard for an equaliser down the backend of the match.

Deep into injury time, Mohammadi thought he’d pull a trick out of the bag in an attempt to get his throw-in to travel further. The Iran defender gave himself some room, moved forward and tried to incorporate a flip into the throw.

Fail.

Unfortunately for Mohammadi, he forgot to release the ball at the end of the acrobatic move, leaving many fans scratching their heads.

On the next throw, Mohammadi stuck to the basics and it was easily handled by Spain and cleared from their danger zone.

The loss leaves Iran on three points and they'll need to beat Portugal in their final match if they're to progress from Group B.
