West Ham's Valencia out for up to 12 weeks

West Ham forward Enner Valencia could miss as many as 12 weeks with a leg injury, the Premier League club says.

Valencia was hurt in Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Astra Giurgiu, and a scan revealed there was a "very small chance" he would need surgery.

"We will know for sure whether or not Enner will need an operation next week, but if everything goes to plan we hope that he will be available for selection again within 10 to 12 weeks," Stijn Vandenbroucke, West Ham's head of sports medicine, said in a statement on Monday.

Valencia joined West Ham from Mexican club Pachuca last summer after scoring three goals for Ecuador at the 2014 World Cup.
