Welsh minnows break Ajax's win record

Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints have smashed Ajax Amsterdam's record of the most straight wins after chalking up their 27th consecutive victory.

Ajax's previous record dated back to the 1971/72 season, when the Dutch side had Dutch legend Johan Cruyff and made 26 victories in a row.

The New Saints equalled Ajax's record on Boxing Day after beating Cefn Druids 4-0, and became the world's first club to win 27 successive games after defeating the same opponent 2-0 on Friday.

The New Saints' last defeat was 3-0 against Apoel of Cyprus in July in the second leg of the Champions League qualifiers.
