Wanderer Vidosic set for big finish

While heralded Italian marquee Federico Piovacarri has been frozen out, fellow big-name signing Dario Vidosic is now warming up.

After a slow start to the year, the Western Sydney winger has slowly crept to form for the A-League leaders, netting a crucial goal in last week's 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Sydney FC.

But the fringe Socceroo was more delighted with punching out an entire 90-minute stint - just his fifth full game since signing on with the club over the winter - than finding the back of the net.

"I'm feeling able to run out those 90 minutes with less fatigue towards the end," Vidosic said.

"The confidence in the body is definitely getting good. I've been fortunate enough not to miss a training session this season, so I've been managed very well.

"And now's the business end of the season. Now is when the fun part begins."

While Piovacarri has proven a flop - the former Liga I striker hasn't played in over a month - Vidosic has inched his way to peak fitness and predicted a big finish to the season.

This time last year the 28-year-old cut a frustrated figure at Swiss club Sion, where he battled form, fitness and coaching issues, failing to get a first-team start for over six months.

He was then trumpeted as a major signing by the Wanderers for the new season but has yet to reach the same heights that landed him a national call-up two years ago.

However with just seven games remaining in the season, that's all about to change.

"I haven't been able to hit (my best) so far. There are times when I can impact, and there are times when the body fatigues quicker," he said.

"That's what I had throughout my mind, to be very patient and to know that that time will come.

"And the team's been fantastic to me and also the coaching staff, they've really looked after me. I'm really excited. Hopefully I can give my best form now over the last few rounds."

Winless in their past three weeks, Wanderers coach Tony Popovic is likely to have his entire roster available for Friday's blockbuster against surging Perth.

Central defender Alberto is certain to be rushed back into the backline following his two-week suspension, while Liam Reddy is also likely to keep the gloves ahead of Andrew Redmayne.
