Vukovic tends to seagull in FFA Cup final

Sydney FC goalkeeper Danny Vukovic has shown his tender side, carrying an injured seagull to safety in Wednesday night's FFA Cup final.

Minutes after a Tim Cahill header gave Melbourne City a 1-0 lead in the second half at AAMI Park, Sydney defender Sebastian Ryall's clearing pass struck the seagull from short range.

There was a moment of confusion as play continued but with the whistle blown, Vukovic carefully picked up the felled bird in his gloves and carried it over to the sideline attendants.

All seemed to end well for the seagull, who was stroked by the ground staff before flying out of the tunnel and back into the stadium.

Melbourne City went on to win the match 1-0 and claim the first trophy in the club's seven-year history.
