Social media reacts angrily to petty Ronaldo

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the biggest name in world football.

But disgruntled fans have countered that all the fame has gone to his head and he has started to put himself above the team.

Social media has gone into overdrive since the three-time Ballon d'Or winner hit the headlines for all the wrong reason after arguing with a referee despite his teammate scoring in the Spanish side's 4-1 win over Getafe.

In vision that quickly went viral following the match, Ronaldo can be seen remonstrating with the referee before begrudgingly joining the throng celebrating French striker Karim Benzema's second goal of the match.

The 30-year-old's selfishness immediately drew the ire of many supporters who took to Twitter to express their anger at his actions.

Ronaldo eventually did get his name onto the scoresheet after hitting the back of the net just before halftime.

Welsh winger Gareth Bale claimed the fourth goal in a victory that leaves Real Madrid in third place, four points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
