Turan joins Spanish soccer giants Barca

Turkish winger Arda Turan signed a five-year contract with Barcelona on Friday and said it was "a dream come true" to join the European champions.

Barca agreed on Wednesday to pay Atletico Madrid 34 million euros ($A50.4 million) for the 28-year-old Turkish midfielder, who will be unable to play for the Catalans until January because of the transfer ban imposed on Barca by FIFA for having underage foreign youngsters in their youth scheme.

"It will be difficult to be six months without playing," Turan said at his official introduction. He is in the same situation as right-back Aleix Vidal, who was signed by Barca from Sevilla in June.

When asked if Barca were planning to loan him out for six months, Turan said he had "no idea at all. All I want is to be useful for Barca."

Turan said he had been persuaded to join Barca by coach Luis Enrique.

"He called me up and said that he wanted me here. It was very important for me to hear that," Turan said.
