Sydney FC are sweating on the fitness of Alex Brosque, amid fears the in-form captain may not play for the rest of the regular A-League season.

Brosque re-injured his troublesome hamstring in Saturday night's 1-1 away Big Blue with Melbourne Victory, only three weeks after returning from a two-month layoff.

The club are awaiting scan results due late on Monday afternoon, which will indicate how long the 32-year-old can expect to be sidelined.

However he is almost certain not to play in Wednesday night's home Asian Champions League match against Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande, and appears unlikely to face Melbourne City away this Saturday.

Fellow forward Matt Simon was also cleared of any organ damage or broken ribs after being taken to hospital following the match, but suffered some internal bleeding and is also an unlikely prospect to face Evergrande.
